The concept of Rain Harvesting has become a popular discussion over the last few years.  Many LEEDS systems require it for use in environmentally sensitive building applications.  Some schools are collecting rain to irrigate grass on surrounding grounds.  The discussion goes beyond rainwater to gray water to black water and uses of each.  Each has a different definition.

The information under this tab is a basic specification based upon plumbing applications for various styles of applications.  If you are doing rain water to use for flushing, in cooling tower make-up or other non-potable applications, the specifications enclosed are appropriate.   If you are you doing an irrigation application, the system criteria changes.

First, establish your application needs.  How clean is the water you plan to use.  Will it come directly from roof or other containment area?  A preliminary means of filtration to eliminate large debris should be considered.  The containment vessel is the next consideration.  How big?  Where will it be located?  These questions determine the equipment required.

Now you can prepare the hydraulic requirements.  Calculate friction and elevation needs to establish a system TDH.  Does your application require another set of filters?  How small are the solids in the material you need pumped?  Irrigation requires 5-10 micro limitations.  Flush valves have other solid size limits.

Our TIGERFLOW plumbing representatives are eager to help you design the proper system.  Attached is a generic specification.  Let us discuss your needs.
